Day 1 "Painting the Town"

Okay we're ready to start "painting the town" together!

  1. Using a canvas, large piece of paper or a sketch book divide the area into two sections - one large and one much smaller. My canvas is 61cm high and my small section is about 6cm in depth. The line between the two sections of the painting is your horizon which we need for creating the perspective of the image. Above the horizon is the sky, below it is the ground. The horizon is the eye line of the person looking at the image so in this case the person would be standing on a hill looking down on the town or in a small plane. Our painting is gong to depict a "bird's eye view".

  2. Then draw in some roads as if you were looking down on a map. It will be best if your roads are similar to mine at this stage.
