Fantastical Figures

We have arrived at Unbridled Friday and today I have chosen to show you a few of the sculptures created by writer and artist Kirsten Bishop who was born in Victoria but now resides in Bangkok. This pair of bronzes is titled Fabulous Anybodies.

Kirsten Bishop, who is my niece, showed artistic and writing talent from a very young age. She explains her sculptures as often featuring anthropomorphic beings or other imaginary creatures. Kirsten is influenced by myth and folklore and the memory of old toys and ornaments from days gone by, but I go wherever inspiration takes me.( https://kjbishop.net/)

Remember a sculpture must be able to be viewed from many angles so an artist constantly checks all view points against the desired image.

Kirsten Bishop's work can be studied in more depth on her website.

Kirsten is intending to explore a technique called Encorche which refers to a painting or sculpture of a human figure with the skin removed to display the musculature. I will definitely follow this up so we can all learn about Encorche.
