Gebler sheep

As you would know if you have been following our daily art blog, I have been commissioned to create a painting of a Macedonian shepherd. My research has led me to learn a lot about sheep and to discover Friedrich Otto Gebler (1838-1917) who really liked to paint sheep.

As a country girl I know a little about these wooly creatures and in the past have been an avid fan of attending sheep dog trials though probably more to watch the incredible skill of the dogs and their handlers - not to study the sheep.

But the real question is - can you use sheep to make art? And the answer is "Yes of course you can"! Watch this video to see how it's done. Then go forth and find yourself a flock of sheep!
