Windows on a Time Painting Update

For those of you who are enjoying watching this painting grow here is an update. Go back to earlier posts and note the changes. The old wooden town in the background is taking shape and I’m pleased with the way it’s looking. I’ve started to place the inhabitants. Look at the difference between these people and the one in the very early painting I posted yesterday. Now my problem is to get the remains of the wall of the old house (the window) just right. I’m happy with the shape and size but the colour is worrying me. I’m trying to keep a reduced palette but so tempted to have all the wonderful colours that appear over time in the walls of buildings. I’ve also got to blend in the richness of the red earth. The wall of this house was some kind of esrlynplaster over bricks which are my favourite building material to paint. If I can’t get some red bricks into a painting I get really stressed! So I’ll get some bricks in and see how that goes.
